Intro

I'm sure you are wondering what "deunglish" is supposed to be. "Deunglish" is the word used by English-speaking students of deutsch (German), who have yet to master the language fully enough to speak nur deutsch. Thus, deutsch is bonded to English creating "deunglish".

As for who I am, I love learning new languages and most of all learning about the culture behind the languages. I am a German/Spanish major and I've had the opportunity to study in Austria and visit Spain. I've taken Japanese and Russian and I'd like to get a crash course in French sometime in the near future. Eventually I'd like to know as many languages as Cleopatra and travel the world to speak them.

In this blog, I will be focusing on comparing German/Austrian and American cultures, but some of it will also deal with Spanish culture.

  1. Cool! We use the term "Franglais" in French to refer to those who speak French and English in our lower levels, among other places. Glad to see your tremendous interest in languages and hope to see you in one of our French courses soon!!

  2. There's also "Spanglish". I guess it's the same as "drivo el caro", but in Spanish (sometimes ridiculous). Ich habe in Österreich studiert auch. I would like to visit different countries like Russia or Japan, but next stage: USA
