The Name

I'm sure you are wondering what "deunglish" is supposed to be. "Deunglish" is the word used by English-speaking students of deutsch (German), who have yet to master the language fully enough to speak nur deutsch. Thus, deutsch is bonded to English creating "deunglish".

The Don Quixote part has two reasons. First, el es de España. Since Spain is the focus of my Spanish learning and travels, his origins are perfect. Secondly, ever since I was little, my dad told me to stop fighting windmills. Alas, I never listened so I'm still a modern day mujer de la Mancha.

The Origin

I started writing this blog for a class in University. It was meant to discuss cultural observations about countries I had visited and the target cultures of my languages, German and Spanish. However, it has grown into something more. Since I have lived abroad so much, I turned it into a journal for my friends and family to read. It is also a reference for people who are curious about or interested in the countries I have visited and lived in. It has become a window to other cultures from my point of view.
